Summary
Hafsa Bakhtawar of Sakhakot Dargai Malakand is 11 years old and suffering from Motor neuron disease. The symptoms started when she was 7. At first, she started faltering and then her legs lost strength completely. She then lost her speaking power and now her eye sight is also deteriorating and became nearly blind. As one set after the other succumbs, she has eventually became paralysed.
Hafsa has two younger brothers, 10 yr old Huzaifa, who is also facing the same problem, and now her second brother, aged 7, has started showing the symptoms.
This is a genetic disease and unfortunately there is no precise cure available. However, it is possible to reduce the acute effects and help them spending a better life through proper medical attendance and making the right equipment available.
Shifa International Hospital Islamabad is currently administrating the treatment. But the cost has gone beyond the control point and the parents are compelled to request the well-off people to extend their cooperation.
APPEC has verified the case by contacting Dr. Inayat ullah Khan, the neurologist at Shifa Hospital supervising the treatment. The total amount required for three children is Rs. 5 lacs.
It is therefore, requested to provide financial support for the sake of their lives. The poor parents of Hafsa, Huzaifa and Abdullah will be thankful to you for the whole of their lives.
