Summary

Maham, 5 year old girl fell off the stairs and endured brain injuries. Due to skull rupture, the Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaked causing infection. She is now fitting and due for surgery. If left untreated, there is a risk to the brain to drop inside the skull due to the body’s inability to replenish the CSF fluid at a quick enough pace. In short, the girl is in critical and life threatening condition.

Unable to be treated in her home town, she was taken to a hospital in Peshawar. Her father is a medical sales representative earning approx Rs. 35000/- per month. However, the daily expense of the hospital and treatment is in thousands of rupees. The family has already taken loans to cover the expense so far and unable to continue further. The estimate for the surgery is around Rs. 300,000, plus the formidable cost of treatment.

APPEC has verified the case in addition to the medical reports scrutinised by an independent consultant radiologist. The reports are available on request.

Please come forward to save the life of this child.
