This is an urgent call regarding the financial support for the marriage expenditures of two daughters of a widow; and a mother of 7 daughters. They belong to the lower middle class household. After the death of her husband in 2006, their only source of income is her elder son. Five of the elders daughters are married (also to lower middle class households) and as the woman herself is sick and therefore wants to marry the youngest two daughters off on urgent basis (Oct 2013). She needs almost 100,000 PRK (roughly 750 Euros at today’s exchange rates). She has also shown the willingness to return as much amount to APPEC as soon as she can manage (atleast 50%, hopefully within the next year). It is worth specifying that couple of her daughters used to work as well, and one of the girl who is going to get married also works off and on (low salary jobs like school teaching etc but doesn’t have a permanent job). Therefore, we have agreed upon her request to return as much as she can manage, and whenever she can and we don’t intend to pressure them or force them in anyway to return the money if the situation doesn’t allow them to save any money for return. However, once the payment would be received, APPEC advisory will seek the consent of the donors to divert the collected funds to other projects or to be returned to them. APPEC primary contact person has verified the details and assures the donor of the authenticity of this case. However, given the sensitive nature of the matter, the names are being kept hidden from the general public. Supporting documents are available at APPEC and can be consulted on request. Members/donors of APPEC are humbly requested to contribute graciously toward this cause and help this mother fulfil her responsibility.
